Advanced Life Support (ALS) is a higher level of emergency medical care, typically provided my EMT-Intermediates & EMT-Paramedics. This care may include invasive techniques such as IV therapy, intubation, and/or drug administration. Our ALS ambulances are staffed with some of the finest paramedics, who have superior knowledge of advanced life support techniques, such as cardiac monitoring, defibrillation, and pacing; intravenous cannulation and intraosseous access; and ventilatory support.
Nelson Ambulance Service & Access Ambulance Service provide their paramedics with state-of-the-art equipment that includes the latest cardiac monitoring technology, CPAP machines, EZ IO drills, IV medication pumps, and portable ventilators. Our paramedics are available for emergency, non-emergency, and critical care transports. Emergency services include the treatment of chest pain, shortness of breath, altered mental status, and cardiac arrest. Non-emergency transport services include the inter-facility transport of a patient presently being treated with IV medications and/or cardiac monitoring. Critical care transports require the skills of highly trained CCT-Paramedics, along with a nurse, respiratory therapist and/or physician.
